Water Unit 2013
Hi! This website is done by girls from the 2019 class at Westridge. Every year the seventh graders go through something called the water unit where they learn about the problems caused by lack of access to clean water. During this unit we had a guest speaker who raises awareness about the problems a lack of access to clean water presents. We read a book about a boy who faces challenges while caught in a war and how he makes a difference. The water unit is all about the problems presented and their solutions. We did a project where we were assigned a country and researched the culture and water problems. All the girls worked independently to research these countries and were guided by teachers who also taught them about the problems. To try to put ourselves in the shoes of a girl in Africa, we walked about a mile with a gallon of water. This website tracks our discoveries and the process we went through during the water unit. We have a page with our personal accounts and experiences and the pages we created for their countries. We also have the different experiences and some facts. I hope you enjoy our website as you explore the problems that lack of clean water presents.
